Zhong Chen was born in China and moved to Australia in 1989. Throughout his career his work has explored themes of his mixed cultural heritage. Featuring proud traditional Chinese subjects like women and nature, he reinterprets them in a contemporary photographic language by hand painting images in his signature 'pixel' style. Universally acclaimed with solo shows throughout Australia and in New York he has a list of comprehensive national and international group shows behind him. Chen has also been selected as a finalist for the Sulman, Wynne and Archibald prizes. He is represented by the Art Gallery of NSW, Artbank, the Gold Coast City Art Gallery, Western Mining and many private collections in Asia and Australia
