Jamie Daddo
(b.1967)

Painter

Biography
MFA, BA (Fine Art), Dip Prof Writing

“...art has brought new perspectives and meaning to my life.”

Jamie Daddo, 47, lives in Melbourne and has painted for the past twenty years. In  2002 he successfully completed a Masters Degree in fine Art. He has participated in group and solo exhibitions for over twenty five years. His work is primarily figure orientated, with an emphasis on delving into the human psyche. Never satisfied completely with what lies before him, there is always better to be achieved, for in this simple fact lies the reason for being.

With an ongoing fascination with emotional states, he has experimented with text. This interest led to the completion of a professional writing diploma which is used in his further emotional search through using poetry to convey deeper feelings in his art.

By examining the nuances between the disciplines of the literary and pictorial worlds that exist in Jub’s mind, he travels to lands that we all know or want to know.

‘My work gives me the opportunity to explore the world around and outside myself. I am intrinsically and outward looking person who not only sees the physical, but also what lies underneath.

When I paint there is an intensity in my stare as I stand at the easel. My look penetrates my subject beyond their skin as though I am looking into the soul of the sitter…and that’s what I paint”
