Mirranda Burton
Printmaker, Animator and Writer

Mirranda Burton began riding tricycles in Auckland, New Zealand before moving to South Australia where she learned to ride scooters, go-carts and bicycles. Whilst not pedaling the pavement she was busy drawing and learning noisy musical instruments.

After studying briefly at the Adelaide Conservatorium of Music, she completed an Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts at the North Adelaide School of Art. After graduating, she began exhibiting, but soon fell under the spell of animated film. With Super 8 camera and all manner of materials she produced her first animated shorts for film festivals.

Abandoning a rather nice bicycle she took flight to travel the world, and settled for some time in England and France. Returning to Australia she finished a Bachelor of Multimedia design at Swinburne University, then followed the animation trail to work at Disney Toon Studios Australia.

She is now based in Melbourne, specializing in animation, printmaking and writing comics. In May 2010 she won the 'Scenario Prize' for her comic strip 'P.S.' at the Fumetto International Comix Festival in Lucerne, Switzerland. Her first book 'Hidden' was published by Black Pepper in 2011.
