David Bromley
(b. 1960)
Visual Artist
Born in Sheffield England, David arrived in Australia aged 4. In his 20’s after discovering a love of surfing in Noosa, he started learning how to throw clay on a wheel and, shortly after, decided he had found his calling as an artist. His choice of images is about engaging with a wide section of the community - ‘giving them a key to unlock a door and helping them with an (art) vocabulary’. Bromley is increasingly in demand as a portraitist, he has been a finalist four times in the Archibald Prize and painted some famous portraits, including filmmaker Scott Hicks, actor Hugo Weaving and pop star Kylie Minogue. Art Collector has recently named David as one of Australia’s 50 most collectable artists.
