Michael Jenkins

Michael Jenkins inspires “the building of Art.” His body of work encapsulates inner urban constructions and building design, translated into a natural affinity with the Australian landscape.

He draws creative inspiration from man-made, discarded or recycled materials he salvages; such as road signs, beach bathing boxes and World War 11 artillery boxes. The wear and weathering on the materials in his artworks, also highlights nature in the landscape. The art transcends the specifics of any one place and time.

The deconstruction of one found object; into the transformation and formal arrangement of another, is emphasised with line, form and sculptural properties. The austere and abstract compositions are an assemblage of movement, repetition, texture and order.
