Robert Boyd

’My art represents an inner journey and history; of the past and the future. Each painting is an individual piece interwoven with a thread of spirituality that links all of my artworks together. My art is to evoke an unlocked knowledge that is within us all, empowering your own self awareness and space."

Robert’s art led him on a journey of understanding placement, position, giving him a sense of belonging and affinity with his physical and ethereal surroundings.

An awakening to spirituality and oneness within his art has given him a unique perspective to creation and time, combining past, present, and future into one, an awareness of the elements and time not being just linear but a multi facetted nexus of life experiences.

Touched by a phenomenon known as the “11:11 co-incidence” where number 11 represents ascension and spirituality, gave rise to a firm and positive affirmation to the alignment Robert is now travelling.

‘11:11’is an intricate part of Robert’s art and psyche often featuring quite prominently in many of his works. Using a strong use of symbolism, he sees the universe as a repository of all life, past and future, where we are not single entities but a driving oneness of ‘something bigger’. It is a coming together and alignment that Robert captures.

Robert believes that primitive symbolism is the language of the future, a forgotten code to unlock destiny. Robert’s symbolism and special juxtaposition invokes a recollection deep within the psyche fusing the personal and collective consciousness giving rise to an evolution of awareness, a knowledge that has been embedded only to be re-awoken.

Robert’s work is often described as a powerful fusion of east and west and with a unique form of symbolism, spatial awareness and colour. In each one of his works - motifs, dots and lines giving rise to a sense of rhythm and harmony intentionally aimed to confront the viewer with a feel of calm and relative comfort, a feeling of something familiar, something distantly recognisable. His work has a neo primitive and ancient feel reaching to the present time. Robert’s recent figurative works show a strength of expression typical of his work.

Robert’s varied choice of medium is a rich blend of multi layerings, often of Shellac, stones, cane, organic fibre and often a collage of materials and paper combined with acrylic uniting to give a textural depth to his compositions.

Robert’s art can be interpreted on many personal levels evoking a strong emotional response to simply an admiration of the beautifully structured balance of his work.
